Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day

We hosted Mother’s Day in our house this year and it was great. It was the first holiday we hosted since getting married. Naturally, I was so excited and wanted everything to be perfect. I really wanted to make everything so special for all the moms attending, so the attention to detail was very important. Let’s get into it…

Décor

Let’s start with the décor because who doesn’t love pretty things? I wanted all different kinds of pinks and whites. As soon as I knew we were hosting Mother’s Day I knew exactly what I wanted. We did a long table with a white tablecloth and a pink linen table runner. I found these cute bud vases and I got all loose flowers such as peonies, baby’s breath, pink roses, and ranunculus from the florist. I added some pink plates with linen napkins and some gold silverware. I also added some matching cups and presented it with lemon water inside.

  Food

The food is always the most important part. We are Italian so antipasto was up first. We had fresh panzerotti, fresh mozzarella that my husband made, all different kinds of cold cuts, prosciutto balls, bruschetta, whipped ricotta crostini’s and some more.

Soon after that I started to prep the pasta. Pasta is always a must in our family. So much so that I made two different kinds, so everyone had an option. The first pasta was Bucatini with fresh tomatoes and the second was Tortellini with pesto sauce.

Then, we barbequed. We made burgers, marinated chicken, steaks, hot dogs. We also had a chickpea, tomato and cucumber salad, string bean and potatoes, grilled asparagus, and roasted potatoes.

 Dessert

Obviously, the best part, hands down! I ordered a cute little cake with flowers on it, and we also had these yummy freshly made donuts (if you know me, you know that donuts are my weakness). Some fresh fruit, cookies, and chocolate.

 Gifts

Again, I really wanted the moms to feel special and loved. So, I made everyone their own personalized beach bags with their initials on them. Then, I stuffed them with some goodies. I put them out under the TV this way they can see them as soon as they come in.
